To All My Liberal Friends:

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all.

I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2010, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wish.

You better include conservative friends too EP. Cause I know a couple pretty conservative individuals who have no use for religion.

Myself being neither liberal nor conservative by definition, tend to like both Christmas and the original and by far the oldest holiday of this time which is observation of the Winter Solstice (AKA Saturnalia to the Ancient Romans) which marks the beginning of the return of the sun and it's warmth. And I figure that's a good combination since Christ and Santa are about the only part of modern Christmas that didn't originate with the Pagan celebration of the Winter Solstice.

So a Merry Christmas and Happy Saturnalia to you EP. santa sunny

I've never cared one way or the other what people want to call christmas. But over the past few years, the father-in-law has been watching too much Bill O'Reilly, and makes it a point to bitch about 'the war on christmas' on occasion. So the Supreme Commandress and I make it a point to send him a "Happy Holidays" or "Season's Greetings" card every year.

This year I'm loading up on chocolate Jesus' for stocking-stuffers.

Everytime I hear the complaints about how "they" meaning liberals, are trying to ban Christmas I remind them that the television they say is controlled by the same liberals has literally hundreds of Christmas shows on. Then I point out that maybe the anti-Christmas sentiments are retaliation for some of the churches anti-Halloween ideas.

Don't worry folks. Christmas is a cash cow that makes all others pale in comparison even in a slow buying year. It ain't going away.

Political correctness...boo!
Planning on celebrating Festivus instead. I'm really looking forward to the Airing of Grievances. Should be a nice, fun-filled family gathering.
