Computer question?

About a week ago, was awakened at 4:30 am by a strange beeping sound. Investigating it, I discovered it was coming from my pc. The screen was dark and completely un responsive, so I just killed power and went back to bed.

The next morning I fired it back up and everything seemed to be operating fine, until later when tried to get on MSN messenger, and it would not log in. No messenger program will log in (MSN, Yahoo, IMVU). Re-loaded MSN to no avail. Re-loaded XP, still nothing.

Anybody have any ideas or have this same problem before?

Check and make sure that all your cooling fans are working and clear of dust and cat hair. You could get those symptoms if your CPU is over heating.

Thanks, Buff. There was a bunch of crap in there. It's cleaned out now. All fans were spinning, but I think you are right and the thing overheated. I think it's time to retire it. I've had to replace the video card 3 times and the powersupply twice. The things been on pretty much 24/7 since I bought it in 2001.

It's tired.
