Does Halloween on a Saturday bother you?

Does Halloween on a Saturday bother you? Oh, not in and of itself. But I think it can create a heightened climate for mischief over being on a school night. Do you have your Halloween wares displayed?

| I agree, SciFi. This is one time of year that I'm glad we live in tiny town. Those who want to create mischief, will go to Topeka to do so. | |

Do you have your Halloween wares displayed? Figured you meant that. But it also means I might top the 100 mark for trick or treaters, which is usually fun. Last couple years I had 96, and 94 kids. Yeah I got some stuff up. Still working on a couple projects. Debating on making a skinned corpse with all the muscle and assorted components showing.

100! That's amazing. We're lucky to get a handful, and often it's less than that. What are you folks handing out this year? My dad used to get a roll of quarters and handout $.50 per bag. The kids didn't seem to mind the cash and the parents were elated. I can still remember hearing a parent moan when he switched to candy only. All of that was some time ago when $.50 could buy a lot more candy than the usual smattering of candy handed out.

| I usually buy about $40 to $50 worth of different types of candy, and if kids I know like certain things I save special treats out of sight for them. Last year I even had cotton candy for one. I usually mix everything in a bowl and give out a handfull, but this time I may use treat bags to insure everyone gets a good variety. | |

Well, I guess I was full of it. I asked my parents about the quarters and they said that they still do hand out quarters, but with so few treaters knocking at the door, sometimes none, a couple of bucks in quarters and a some candy is more than enough. Ratzilla, if you get that skinned corpse done, how about posting a pic? Either way, it would be neat to see pictures of anyone's Halloween decor. I used to take pictures of the treaters but I don't know if I can still buy film in hays anymore. Yes, that's right, film!

Good idea, SciFi, requesting pics of displays! Now, about taking pics of trick or treaters, I'm not sure that's socially acceptable anymore. Someone might clobber you.

| I video taped a few kids last year, especially the girl who copied one of my yard characters for her costume. And some parents take pics of their kids posing with the displays. We aren't that paranoid here yet and Halloween is still fun. If there's someone you can't trust the kids are told to stay away from their house to begin with. | |

The kids would come up to the door, my parents would give them candy and I'd take a picture of them. They loved it! But yeah, roaming neighborhoods laying it wait is not a good thing. Creepy.
