Why does the HDN story about this state that it happened between 7:48am and 4:00pm on Saturday, then proceed to say that the cops stated that alcohol probably played a role? That's not exactly prime drinking time, especially on the day after Drunktoberfest.

I believe Octslobberfest was combined with the annual FHSU Homecumming orgy which means anything can happen between 8:00 AM Friday and 8:00 AM Sunday. It's kind of like this.

Orgy? there was an orgy? why do I always find out about these things after they have happened?
I was informed by a couple young guys at work that the intent among their group for the weekend was drink and screw as many good looking girls as they could get their hands on with big emphasis on multiple girls. Kind of a who can get the most contest the way it sounded. Didn't sound as if they cared if the girls were conscious or not either.

Just modern youth. I listened to 7th, 8th, and 9th graders talking as they passed my house one night a year or two ago and one of the girls was talking about it being a good night to get laid to which one of the boys smiled and told the other boys in the group that it looked like he'd be gettin shit on his condom later. When I was a kid the girls played hard to get but when the girls are horndogs now too it makes it easy. If they're like that in junior high I can about imagine what the college crowd is like.

Feltens statues are a genuine part of The cities past and future...Someone needs a serious ass kicking over this!
I remember thinking when I was running around partying in Hays that some of his statues were pretty cool, but that others were kinda creepy, or even ugly. But we'd never have considered trashing one. And Pete's a good guy too. Hated hearing this.

I don't have anything against Pete- I even sold him a pair of pliers once. But my father-in-law hates the guy like poison. Something about him being a hippy and spitting on a Mercedes that his Daddy gave him one time.

Wish my old man had given me a Mercedes. I got his hand me down Ford because Hays Auto Parts only offered him $200 for it. He'd just put that much in new radials on it and he figured they'd piece it out for $1000 or more so he told them to get hosed and offered it to me and I was thrilled about it.
When I needed a part for the car Hays Auto wanted $5 more than a rebuilt cost so I told em to get hosed again.
But back to Felton. He's a typical opinionated artist. They tend to be anti-establishment types. Some of his work is great and shows high levels of skill. But there's been a few that I look at and just wonder why. Especially some of those creepy blockhead pioneer things that look like Rod Serling should have been talking about them on Night Gallery.

Hey, don't be a whiner- my parents didn't give me shit for a vehicle. Though they did let me (and my brothers) borrow theirs to get back and forth to work at a local grocery store until I could save up my $3.75 an hour paychecks and buy my own sweet ride. Paid $450 for a nasty old '78 Cutlass (this was in '93 or thereabouts). To this day I'm still kinda partial to Oldmobiles.
But yeah, I agree with you about those blockhead pioneers. Kinda creepy.

Note the last words of my statement reposted below. Don't mean I'm a whiner if I wish my old man was rich.

They are rather dismal in feeling, even kind of macabre. I've often wondered why he works in that style. Some of his works look like something I'd expect the Addams family to buy.

Regardless... his works have become part of Hays' history. Too many kids are raised with a total lack of respect, today. That gives me a dismal feeling.

Don't mistake my comments as not caring. I agree they are a part of Hays and that there's a huge lack of respect among both young and old these days. And wrecking artwork just seems even more wrong. There's a lot of artists whose work seems odd at times, but everyone likes different things. And at this time of year those creepy statues fit right in.

Mine sure weren't raised that way. But I wished we had everything back that our son has torn up and/or destroyed. Especially that 98 GMC truck!
