Yeah, little boys holding God Hates Fags signs must be his worst nightmare. That was cold. The Phelpses are just as guilty of child abuse as Jackson ever was.

| Never said the Phelps clan treated kids right. It irritates me to see those kids put out in the public with those signs and fed all that crap. Who knows what else happens to those kids. But between Jackson and Fred Phelps there's only one of them that might be listed as a hall of famer among NAMBLA members. | |

The difference is that Jackson was found not guilty by a jury and the Phelpses flaunt their child abuse daily.

I'd bet a weeks pay that there's some Jackson jurors with nice post trial increases in their bank accounts too. Phelps while not to my liking or yours, is preaching religion and unless physical or mental abuse besides drilling idiotic religious principles into their heads can be established, Phelps isn't breaking a law. I call it abuse, you call it abuse. Law calls it freedom of religious expression and that's tough to fight without totally throwing out the 1st Amendment. If you havn't read the following commentary here, you might look at it. The guy who wrote it is a Reagan fan and conservative so you shouldn't get too ill reading his commentary. http://www.adamsweb.us/blog/hanging-ourselves-with-fred-phelps-rope/

I'd bet a weeks pay that there's some Jackson jurors with nice post trial increases in their bank accounts too. So you're going to make the accussation of jury tampering, too? Quite the conspiracy theorist, aren't you. Perhaps you forget that there's a simpler explanation. The trial was in Los Angeles, same place that brought us the OJ trial and the Robert Blake trial. All three were likely guilty. All three were acquitted. Go figure. Those three juries alone lend credence to California being called the Land of Fruits and Nuts. - Ratzilla wrote:

If the person in question wasn't Phelps, the state would have intervened a long time ago. Those kids are kept away from the rest of the world, except when they are put on display holding those signs. They aren't allowed to socialize with other kids from school, and they have been known to verbally abuse other kids who question them about their beliefs. I know people who went ot school with Shirley's daughters who are now attending Washburn. It happened to them personally. Their "church" also has tax exempt status. Yet if an outsider attempts to attend their "church," they are arrested for trespassing. I'm not speculating here. Some of the people involved in the Million Fag March last year were trying to organize a group that would attend the Sunday morning service at Westboro. They were advised by the Topeka police that they would be arrested if they attempted to do so. For some reason, the autorities in Topeka, both city and state, are scared of these people. They hide behind the First Amendment while at the same time denying other peoples' First Amendment rights. When we moved to Topeka a couple of years ago, we lived very close to the intersection of 21st & Wanamaker. The movers weren't even finished unloading the truck yet when people started parking up and down the street. One of the vehicles was a pickup truck loaded with signs. These freaks would get out of their cars, go get a sign and proceed to the intersection to harass drivers stopped at the light. I saw a woman walking down the sidewalk with a couple of kids and nearly stopped her to warn her not to go down there because of the protesters. Turns out she was one of them. So were the kids. - Ratzilla wrote:

http://www.adamsweb.us/blog/hanging-ourselves-with-fred-phelps-rope/ He raises legitimate questions. However, as I stated above, the Phelpsies love to invoke their own rights while denying the rights of others.

| First off I'm basing the assumption on jury payoffs on the fact Jackson did pay off an alleged victim who no jury declared a victim.
As far as Phelps goes, there is no law that says they can't home school and be isolated. Shall we charge the Amish with child abuse too? And no law says that their church must be open to everyone. Being tax exempt does not mean that.
I personally however oppose tax free status for "ALL" churches. We all know very well that the big churches and preachers make big profits. Tax exemptions should only be given to organizations that are 100% volunteer, 100% non-profit, or put every penny back into the community.
As far as someone going to "attend" WBC services goes, that would mean entering their personal property. If they picket on the street they'd be no different than Phelps and couldn't be arrested. But if they go onto his private property there is no law to protect them and they can be charged with tresspass.
And as far as the kids go, I've seen kids used as pawns to sway public opinion in the abortion issue on both sides, anti-pornography, pro-religion, anti-religion, and a multitude of other "causes" that weren't favored by everyone. It's just more annoying with Phelps because of his disrespect for absolutely everyone else and because he won't quit.
