Has anybody heard if Hays Chevrolet survived the first round of cuts?

Sad to say, but I really dont care if they do, or not. If they do close, I guess only way it will affect me is if I need a dealer part, which has not happened in awhile. I suppose someone else will ship it to me.

All I saw in that lot was either new, or used that they were too fond of to put a low price on. I've done best at Auto World.

I think the Hays Chevy dealership does decent, they have relatively new owners, just couple of years now and I get the impression they are doing decent. If they are, I wouldn't think they would close one that is doing good. Plus, this is a nice area for them, if they close the Hays dealership, where is the next closest?
Now what is going to happen to James Motors when they lose Pontiac, that is probably going to hurt them. They lost Oldsmobile a few years ago and not Pontiac, maybe its time for them to consolidate the GMC and Chevy into one and put James Motor out.

Gonna end up with 1 single new car dealer?
How much does a dealership have in referance to total revenue that they make directly from new car sales vs. the rest (reapair work and parts, et al)?

GMC is a BETTER BUILT truck then a Chevy. If they drop the Chevy truck line in favor of GMC it may due some good

If I wanted a new vehicle, I'd have the money to go wherever I needed to to get it. I buy used and cheap as possible while still avoiding junk. As is, I always have my vehicles paid off quick and usually drive them for years afterwards. And my typical repair bills in a year never have added up to as much as payments on a new vehicle would.
I'm constantly seeing someone buy brand new only to have a major repair hit them after the warranty is shot, or have to trade in on another new one before it's even paid for. Kinda stupid in my opinion.

They are the same exact truck. Only the name badges, grilles, tailgates and trim pieces are changed to protect the innocent.

I hate to say this but I think it will be either James or Hays Chevrolet that gets the boot. I think GM is trying to get rid of their non profitable dealerships and ones that are in competition with one another in a town. It wouldn't bother me one bit if either one closes they are high priced on their vehicles anyway. I was actually hoping that Lewis Chrysler would be impact because I will not do business with them.

That is no lie. I went in there about a year ago looking to buy a used car, when I told the salesman my price range ( and no it wasnt incredibly low ) she actually laughed at me. Never went back and I tell most everyone I know to avoid them.

Lewis Chrysler in Hays dodged the liquidation bullet Thursday when the bankrupt car and truck manufacturer announced its list of dealerships to be closed.

Lewis Chrysler charged me outrageously for a brake job and then added another $6 for an ignition key I never asked to have made. I told them not to remove the ignition key because it was sometimes difficult to get the key back in. So what do they do? Made a new key that wouldn't even turn the ignition and then I had to hope the old one would go back in. And they still wanted the $6.
And just by "coincidence" I'm sure, I never got one of those customer satisfaction rating cards that time.

Lewis should be considered a star performer in the company for as much as they charged me. It's ok, I've repaired/replaced my own parts since then and $50 for some extra wrenches was far better than the $450 labor charges I got hit with on that brake job.

Midas can't do shit for $49.95. We used to have a Midas franchise here at the local Coop Station. I got hosed big time by those guys . The nincompoops broke more than they fixed. I haven't set foot in the place since after doing business there for many years.

Really, the last place you want to work on your vehicle is ANY sort of national chain or franchise. Their business model relies on 'upselling'- i.e. selling you more than what you came in for (which isn't necessarily a bad thing IF what they're selling you is actually necessary and the repair is done properly- but that's a mighty big IF and an even bigger AND). And their staff is generally bottom-of-the-barrel when it comes to skill level. You'll be time and money ahead to find a good dealer. Better yet an independent shop (depending on what kind of work you need).

Another thing about Lewis Chrysler that pissed me off is that a couple of those nut covers had fell off one wheel and they didn't even put replacements on after their rediculous charges. Probably lucky they didn't or I'd have gotten charged an extra $10 apiece.

Both Jim Clark dealerships (one in Salina and that big one along I-70 In Junction) got the axe. It was in the Hays Daily Snooze on Sunday or Friday those are both Chrysler dealers. I read online that GM isnt relasing a list of who being closed to the media..
