| HELP! We've got these little buggers coming into the kitchen. We've scrubbed everything, put all packages of food (cereals and breads, etc.) into zip bags and treated the perimeter of the house, outside, with Ortho Home Defense granules. In previous years, this has worked. Not this year. Do any of you have any suggestions on different pesticides that have worked for you?
Thanks! | |

| think they are the ants that spread the pollen to peeohknees flowers....in college they said to use baking soda, ants are mostly acid and they will eat it thinking it is sugar and explode. Aw better living through chemistry | |

| I just found a site online that said to use Borax. I've heard that one before, about all other bugs, too. I've got plenty of that on hand, since I use it in the laundry. I guess I'll try that. | |

| If that doesn't do it try tobacco tea. Buy Skoal Bandits and drop them in a gallon of water. Set it in the sun in the yard and let it brew just like sun tea. Dispose of the tobacco packets and pour the liquid into your sprayer. Almost all bugs find this to be offensive and will leave your yard, even grubworms. Warning: do not spray too close to roses or tomatoes. May cause tobacco mosaic, affecting your blooms or fruit production. | |

| I've used bait traps with success. You gotta get a bait specific to the ant though. Some go for grease, others sugar. Try putting a little grease out and some syrup/sugar where they travel and see which they like, then buy the appropriate bait traps. They take it back to the queen and all of them die. | |

| Malathion for spraying, Ant stakes for outside. We've used Grant's stakes, but there is also another brand I can't remember the name of at Ace Hardware on Vine. | |

| I bought some Terro baits last night, set one out this morning. There were about 15 ants in it within 10 minutes. Hopefully, this works better this time, than in years past. So far, it seems to be.
I've talked to the neighbors on each side of me, and down the street, everyone is having this problem this year.
On a side note, the peonies are getting ready to bloom! Yay!!! | |
