Derrick Turner is preparing to head to prison. Hays Police picked up Turner, 25, in September 2008 for possession of marijuana, a violation of his probation.
While at the Ellis County Jail, Turner walked out of an open door. A little more than five hours later, police picked him up outside of the Golden Q, bar in downtown Hays.
Turner was charged with aggravated escape. Monday a judge sentenced him to 18 months in prison. His three years of probation await Turner when he gets out.
Side note: another fine athletic recruit compliments of FHSU. Maybe the 3 accused of rape who were also athletic recruits of FHSU ( tonight HDN) can join him in prison.

So the only people in Hays who smoke weed and commit rape are FHSU athletes?

| No, but I do believe that they should also be responsible in their actions after all they are "role" models for the youth in Hays. After I read what I wrote I agree with you , not all FHSU athletics are criminals its just that these few that do make unwise decisions overshadow those that lead the life of straight and narrow. | |

Interesting. I thought they found him hiding in a closet in a house by the Golden Q.

Interesting. I thought they found him hiding in a closet in a house by the Golden Q. A ladder from HFD was requested by PD just across the street east of the Q in the alley. Was that it, or a different incident?

| Different, that was used in the recovery of a stolen wallet Saturday night. Three young men mugged and robed a man stealing his wallet and money. In the pursuit by Hays police the wallet was thrown on top of that building. Two of the three were later arrested and being held in Ellis County jail. I'm not for certain if they are FHSU students or possibly athletics. | |

| It won't be long they will be referring to Fort Hays as the FHSU Convicts. | |
