damn he could sing... he also sang the song for John Waynes "The Searchers"as well as acting in that movie...... and the Sons of the Pioneers sang Kathleen in "Rio Grande" starring John Wayne & Maureen O'hara , directed by John Ford

I'd forgotten About Ken Curtis having those other points in his career, though I recall him being in other westerns and vaguely recall he was in the Sons Of The Pioneers now after seeing the pictures. I think he produced or directed a couple low budget SciFi movies in the 50's too, but his cowboy side was most popular and he'll always be Festus to me. I got to see him do a performance at the Phillipsburg rodeo in the 70's.

The last time I remember seeing him on-screen, was on an episode of, "In the Heat of the Night." A series I have always liked. Damned fine movie, too.

I think I saw him on something after Gunsmoke, but can't recall what for sure. He had quite a film history. Alot more than I remembered.

I met Ken Curtis at the Phillipsburg Rodeo. Newly was there too. Wish I could find those autographed black and white photos.
