| Do you have cable tv with them? I looked at my Eagle bill and my internet has stayed the same price. If you don't have cable tv with them 256k connection is $29.95 but if you have cable then there is a $10 discount on internet. | |

| Our cable bill came with a note saying the rates were going to go up. I haven't really looked at it yet, but our current bill is the same as it was last month. | |

| cable rates will be going up 4.00 a month,I think next month. If I want HD channels it will cost me 10.00 a month more and they only offer 26 channels. I can get 130 channels with direct tv,which i'm considering. | |

| Well, I just got an email saying my cable prices are going up ($4 for my package). So internet and cable price increases at the same time, I bet they will have some happy campers out there. | |

| Cable rates go up every February mostly due to the Franchise Fees that the Various Networks charge Cable Systems. Include in that, the three Local Wichita TV Stations are now allowed to charge the Cable Providers a fee to rebroadcast their Signal, hence the increase. My internet is still the same rate, nothing has changed in that regard. The HD channels also charge local Cable Companies Fees, they went up as well. It doesn't effect subscribers of the Dish Networks because they can split the increased Fee's with Millions of Subscribers instead of Thousands. Simple Economics 101 people.
By the way, I hope all of you Dish users have your dish installed nice and low and within handy reach to clean the ice and snow off of them this winter. Its a bitch when they get covered with snow or ice and you cant get to it to clean them off so you can watch your Cheap TV!

I got a letter several months ago saying that my current rate wasn't in line with what they currently offered, so I was getting adjusted, but the letter didn't say how much or anything. So my next bill comes, and it went up like $1. I didn't understand why my bill wasn't in line with their current rates, its like they had a rate increase but I slipped threw the cracks (or more likely it was a mini rate increase and this is how they were approaching it). Now they changed the rates on the lower levels only, atleast that's what the letter I received today said. I assume a portion of these has to deal with the new contracts with the main network affiliates (NBC, ABC, etc.) that they (and Nex-Tech) were sure to get in the paper. Making sure that they let the public know that we are trying to negotiate a lower rate, but if KAKE in Wichita increases our fees, we have no choice but to charge the customer, blah blah blah.

| I also heard that even though we are getting an increase we might loose the ABC Network. It's in negotiation right now to decide if we will have channel 11 or not.. | |

If you loose the KAKE signal then it can come from Topeka or Kearney

| Yeah, the paper said they could look to Topeka or Kearney, but I'm sure that was more of a negotiation tactic. Really, though, for me, I could lose ABC as there isn't much on it that I watch anyway and I don't care for their news coverage. | |

We (Dish subscribers), in the Topeka market, lost our ABC feed due to contract battles between KTKA and Dish. My husband was pissed, because he missed a bowl game last Friday. The channel is back up, just this afternoon. Good thing... the hub was going to miss the rerun of the new Scrubs, and that would have just been tragic!

| I thought that the cutoff to lose KAKE was Jan 1st. I figured Eagle must have caved in and decided to pay them the money hence the reason why rates are going up. I know that the cable company out of Atwood is losing KWCH just for the fact they couldn't reach an agreement. I just don't understand why these local networks won't work with cable companies. Hell if you have antenna you can pick up these stations for free until Feb then you have to spend $40 for a converter box. | |

| Hays used to have two ABC feeds, Wichita and Denver until KAKE pitched a fit and made Eagle drop the Denver feed. If the Local Stations have already switched over, the February date was just the cutoff those who still have antenna's may have already lost the Locals. | |

Yeah that was good back then if you missed a 7pm show you could watch it a 8pm in the Denver channel

| What pisses me off more than anything is that while rates increase, so do infomercials. Some day you'll be paying out the ass and half the damn day will be infomercials selling their crappy products and get rich con games. | |

| Ok,...you DVR recorder people, just record your shows and watch them later, cuts all the commercials out....you haven't begun to see the battles yet for broadcasting rights. Here is your chance...Google the FCC and look on their menu for the place where you can leave complaints or comments. Load that Mutha up. They are swamped,...I can't get my media attorneys to do any Low Power FM stuff unless i lay out $10K. Aw,....the best keeps gettin better!!! " Hey!!!...I din't order this life?!?!!" | |

You got that wrong, only analog only tv's have to have a converter box, these are really old TV's. Basically, if the TV can be hooked to a coxial cable then the TV probably doesn't need a converter box. What has really happened, is that the analog wave is now a digital wave that can still be picked up by an antenna for free. Which is the heart of the reason why cable companies don't want to pay for the rebroadcast, but with out it, we would all need some sort of antenna along with the cable. Its the reason why some TVs can pick up channel 7.

| The TV has to have a Digital Tuner to avoid having to use the Converter if it isn't hooked up to cable or a satelitte system. Wal-Mart was still selling TV's at Christmas time that did not have Digital Tuners, they have a sticker on them with the caveat that you will need to have it either connected to a converter box or a cable or satelitte system to receive programming. | |

If you switch we can get you $50 off you bill!! We also have the HD package and it's awesome! Way better than the "HD" that eagle offers. My parents supposedly has a few of their HD channels and they don't even compare to direcTV We cemented a post in front of our house to put their dish on. It makes it very easy to clean the snow off. When it iced here not to long ago we didn't have a problem with losing our signal.
