| Male joggers there would sound like they're playing with clackers. | |

Now my wrists hurt. A kid at Roosevelt broke his collarbone with those, and another girl there broke her forearm. For a couple weeks the school was constant noise until that happened and then they were banned in Roosevelt. I still have my original set somewhere but with a different string on them after one went sailing across the house. I also have a set still unopened in the package. I got a beat up arm from the things but got pretty good with them. Those were the good old days of dangerous toys and we liked it.

I got a beat up arm from the things but got enjoyed them. Those were the good old days of dangerous toys, and we liked it. I sure liked it. I wasn't very good with them, and really, none of us really were, but I liked "Klackers." When you could keep'em going, they were neat. Nothing beats a couple of glass balls on a string. Thinking back, I don't remember a glass ball fracturing, hurting anybody. But the bruising to our forearms and wrists was not pleasant.

| They were acrylic plastic. I saw a few strings break, and even saw one shatter. I was really good with them, but oh the pain I endured to become good. I remember my entire right arm being just bruises and welts. Only the stubborness of wanting to be best kept me going.
And something I've noticed all through life is that many gave up on them, but I kept trying. I never tried hard in sports because most stick with it if they play. But so many failed with clackers that I absolutely had to be good. Seems I've always been best at the things others fail at and always been the worst at things others find easy.
