Interesting that I was never shown that I ever saw him smoking. However my parents have a chimnea as mostly an outdoor ornament that I'm thinking about firing up. Be kinda cool to have a stove outside in this cold wind.

I don't care if he smokes or not but I'm sure some of the big deal is the example he is showing to the kids. Now that he will be under the spotlight even more so than any other President all things Bad and Good will be scrutinized and smoking is already a bad example in the eyes of most. And for the countries leader that's not getting off to a good start. Even it being a small thing to notice.

I can't believe that the anti-smoking programming has come so far in this nation that anyone would consider this an important factor in being president. Don't get me wrong, the cigarettes are killing me, and I hate to see kids start. But to base an opinion on whether someone is fit to be president because they smoke or not is bizarre.

Well just remember if you start burning us smoker witches at the stake to keep the kids far away when you light me because my carcass will no doubt be fuming thick clouds of nicotine laden smoke.

I am with you Ratzilla. On my recent job search, the smoking question was on the application. I am wondering if my rights are being violated? I mean, it seems like a loaded question.

Let me say this - most of the members of my family smoke. I have never smoked. I understand what you all are saying. I don't think that the fact that he smokes really has anything to do with his ability as president, it just surprised me because I think Obama portrays himself as perfect which to me includes no smoking, no drinking, eating nothing but good foods kinda stuff.

I agree with kansas - he will be under the spotlight and there will be issues with what sort of example this is for young children.

Smoking is more of a worry in the examples he sets for kids than being a socialist and having friends that hate America and want revenge on whitey? Wow......

In Junior high I was always offended by the girls when their boobs were looking at me because I knew I couldn't touch them. Sure the school could have tried to ban boobs but then there would have been no females.

OH heck. Each president sets a great example for the kids.
Bush Jr - Taught our kids that it is okay to speak like an idiot
Clinton - Taught our kids how to get some from the pizza driver

Yes... I am being silly.. I am sure he hid his smoking during the campaign. The far left nuts would have freaked out. To be honest, I would expect most politicians to smoke. THe stress of the job? It would drive me back to it.

For what it's worth, I used to roll my own . . . . zig zag orange, if memory serves . . . I wasn't good at it, but I got the job done. Like I stated in another post, I stopped in 1986. Didn't like it anymore. Long time ago . .

I can still roll a good smoke and have a couple times in the last year. Tobacco that is. I learned by watching my grandpa do it hundreds of times. Too bad I didn't learn anything when he got lung cancer.
