| What the hell? The whole entire class was in on this thing. Anyone have an explanation how an entire class of third graders can be convinced to murder their teacher? Joey, you bring the paperweight

| I guess 100% of the parents in that school district forgot to tell their kids, "hey, it isn't okay to kill the teacher for putting you in time out". | |

Mercury poisoning of a pregnant teacher. I believe he was 11. Should be close to senior year. Will probably be voted most likely to.........hmmm

The kids are only acting the way they see adults. We're even rude to each other when we are having fun. The world has changed, it isn't just the kids.

It's ok to lie cheat and steal in the name of ME. Ok to have sex with the pages and lie about it and call it something else. Just what do we expect when it's laid out in a "everybody wins" school system, we don't want to hurt someone's feeling, by showing that in life there is winner's and loser's. Then we cann't seem to get ahold of why they go off the deep end.

| Ok, hrc games is one area. When you have the little ones play soccer, they are not allowed to keep score. That way nobody gets their feeling's hurt. BS they know that the other team is either losing or they are getting their butts kicked. And these kids in the story are not getting a pass or fail in school, it's put your time in and past them along until they are grown up. Then let the tax payers have the bill. The whole thing is that (most) kids do not respect the adults, for we live in a talk on your phone in public out loud type of deal and the kids think the world revolves around themselves. "I will call the srs if you disciple me",
Most parents will see their kids do more stuff online and off then they ever thought of in a life time. Or even worst will not even know about my space , face book , ect. or even where their kids are going online as long as they are quiet & out of sight. What are your kids friends name, a lot of parents don't have a clue, & for that matter don't care. That is why the schools are failing in my opinion, the kids run the teachers and then drop out for lack of interest. So what do you do ?

please elaborate... I think they are referring to the whole Non-competative approach to everything nowdays, like sports for younger kids, no one keeping score cause they don't want anyone to feel like they "lost" but that they have competed and gave it thier best. When in real life, there are winners and there are losers. We know it, the kids know it down deep, but they are told it's okay to lose as long as you gave it your best.

| That's quite true. Kids now are not taught how to lose gracefully. They are taught that there are no losers and that anything they want should be theirs. And I've stated numerous times how kids with cell phones and computers can get by with so much more than their parents are aware of. When I see a cop stop to talk to a kid you'll see any others in the area pull out their cell phones as if giving the distress call for the herd to scatter and hide. I've stood within hearing range of kids downtown and listened to them lie to their parents on their cell phones as to their whereabouts, or what they were doing. Parents have no idea what power they gave their kids with phones and computers.
buff, I agree with the less competetive ideas to a degree, but I really think they should understand that there is always going to be the winning team, and then the rest who don't. It will be that way in later life and I feel they can be taught they are still ok if they gave their best, without making it look like no one lost.

| Times have changed Ratz. My son has both a phone and pc access. He's not a bad kid. Ther key for the parent is to stay informed. He gets SO pissed at me because I ask questions, and he gets told "TOUGH". And he don't know it, but I spy.... | |

| I agree nitro. I suggest all parents with kids who go out of the house alone use key loggers and get cell phones with GPS tracking ability. The parent keeping watch is the best defense in a crazy world. | |

| I agree with your super snoop mentality with teenagers, but I still want to know the factors that make kids younger than the cell phone crowd to conspire to plot murder of a teacher.
An influential Manson child in the class?
A really horrible teacher from hell?
South Park?
CSI?
Ritalin?
Sugar?
Parents sitting in front of computers all day long instead of talking to kids?
Lack of religion in classroom?
Lack of ethics instruction in schools?
Nuclear families being separated from grandparents?
Interference from SRS types who keep us from instilling the necessary fear of God in the child? Maybe its all about the alpha?
It was a unanimous classroom decision, according to the article. Something is wrong here. What is it?

| L. All of the above. Can't blame any one thing. Unless of course it is Bush's fault.
It is more about how American society has evolved, or should I say devolved.
Parents don't always take care of their children. Workers don't always take care of their jobs. Businesses don't always take care of their employees. The watchdogs of society don't always take care of their duties.
What can we do about it?
Take care, now. | |

| a couple of years ago, went to seek help to try to determine if my son was bi-polar. When asked if I had ever punished him by spanking, the conversation was immediately stopped, was told that I was a bad parent, and my son was told that it ever happened again that he should call the police. There was no abuse, never will be, but it was instantly assumed there was.

I think it's because this is a poorly defined social construct, and the fault lies in society as a whole and not solely on the education system.
