When did the HD start charging to put things like anniversaries, weddings, engagements and baby announcements in the paper?

we used to get the hays daily but it's reporting was weak, it's sports coverage was mostly what came off the AP wire and it became mostly ads. I don't waste the money on it anymore since our bird died.

Odd, I just had a wedding announcement put in a few months back and it was free.

I figured it was recent... but seriously. For 10 dollars they should let me put in a photo collage of the little man!

most papers have a 'standard' that they follow- if your announcment deviates from what they condsider 'run of the mill' CHA CHING! ex: baby announcement...parents, siblings, grandparents. anything other than that, is where the money comes in- that or if there is a party announced. wedding follows along the same lines- if you wanted the dress explained, all the family, bridesmaids etc listed, you pay. Not sure what your situation is/was.....but thought I would throw that out there

Yeah, I know that in other places they charge past a certain number of lines or words. Ours is just a standard/run of the mill baby announcement, still costs. Don't get me wrong, we're going to pay it, and really it isn't that big of deal to us. I was just surprised by the development!
