Home brewing beer

I'm not a beer person, but my husband is, and he wants a home brewing kit for Christmas. Have any of you bought a kit? If so, is one kit any better than the others?

Not me, but I'd like to be able to brew some good hops rich lagers myself. Maybe there's a home brewers blog out there.

I have had some home brews that were very good with alcohol contents as high as 12 to 15 percent. There are places on the net that discuss this.

10 years ago I helped a kid make some beer with one of those brewing kits. Did real well but lost my recipe. Way cheap drunk,....even got some to taste like that Wheat Beer.

All I ever made before was balloon wine, was ok though. I like the hops Sam Adams brewing uses. Can those be bought here?

Grandma use to make a potato beer that would smoke when you uncorked it. Never got the chance to try it. Bet it had a kick.

Okay, I talked to my friend today. He said go to a website called beer beer and more beer. They have kits available, he said if he was a beginner brewer that probably an ale kit would be what he was looking for. Good luck and keep us informed.

Hey now, they have a hop that they say is a close substitute for the Hallertau hop that Sam Adams uses, and they have something called IsoHop Bitterness Extract that they like to use a few drops of to bring up the bitterness factor in the weak American lagers. It's not cheap, but I could finally taste a Budweiser at it's full potential.
