Anyone else see this? I actually stumbled across it on FB first, and it seems that there are several conflicting reports, or several incidents whichever you seem to believe. Anyway, Here's the HDN article. Almost sounds like an email forward turned real. These things aren't really supposed to happen...

Hate to tell you dz, but these kinds of things have been happening as long as cars have existed, and no doubt women in buggies stopping to help someone had it happen before that. And women have probably been warned not to pick up strangers just as long.

Oh, I'm aware that these things really do happen... they're just not supposed to... expecially close to home. I have my "radar" on a lot more when I'm out here in the "city" than I do when I'm in and around Hays. Just serves as a reminder that I should always have it on. Make sense???

Yeah, understand dz. But we have alot of travelers coming from those bad places. Maybe that guy will make the mistake of trying to get one of our gun loving Kansas girls and get his nads blown off.

I was wondering what he would have done had it been a man that stopped.

Prolly told him that help was on the way and didn't need help.

I don't hear anything clear over here but I've had a feeling all along that something is a little hinky about the whole story. Eh, I could be wrong.

Would explain why there is nothing more to the story. Reminds me of another false accusation in attempt to get sympathy for personal gain.

The story does have a certain urban legend 'ring' to it.

Anything is possible, but I'd think the media would be all over it if it were a hoax. What bothers me more are the accused rapes attributed to local college students that get hushed up.

That would take an investigative reporter. HDN is lacking in that area.

I have had my suspicions about the story all along, but if its not a hoax I hope they catch the person.

that lady needs to be fined and jailed. like the little boy that cried "wolf" , this throws doubt on future rape claims

It pisses me off to no end! Makes it more difficult to be believed when an actual assault occurs. It's hard enough to come forward, as it is.

Fkn stupid woman! Ought to have charges brought against her.

Because 15 minutes of fame makes up for a lot of no self-esteem.

I agree suzy, her name ought to be made public and she should be charged for making a false report as well as pay for all the wasted money on a search that didn't need to happen

Wonder why it took this long to expose as a hoax? Makes you wonder how many guys are sitting in the pen because of crap like this.

I have a feeling there will be some unexpected things come out on the Great Bend killing too. Not that it's a hoax of course, but I think there's a whole lot more to the story than just one guy grabbing a girl and killing her.

I don't think so, Ratz. I think it's simply a case of a f'd in the head guy who went too far to get his jollies.

I havn't kept up on the case. Have they said they have positive evidence linking him and only him to it? So far the only one I've seen that claims they know everything is Nancy Grace and if she told me Hitler was a nazi I'd still want another opinion.

It's possible that it was just one messed up guy, but this just strikes me as something different. Something pre-planned for reasons beyond one man's disturbed actions.

I'd be interested to know Longoria's IQ. He might be one of history's most ignorant criminals if he did it. Longoria worked at the asphalt plant. He ran in a vehicle from there that he wasn't authorized to take. He admitted in an interview with police that he knew the girl. Yet he allegedly took the girl to his workplace, killed, and burned her, and then hung around town awhile before deciding to run.

Now a judge has issued a gag order that forbids attorneys, their employees, and law enforcement from making out of court statements on the case.

He's either very stupid, and since he's spent time in prison that's possible, or he's just done some stupid things that made him a handy suspect.
