| I'm working on doing some scarves for this: http://www.geocities.com/helmetliner/index.html and am in need of yarn, if you have any cheap. The cheapest I found in town was $7 for a small skein, as WalMart has discontinued wool yarn and I'm on a budget, so that's a bit expensive for me. The specifics are this: "Any soft, worsted or bulky weight (100 grams/3.5 ounces) wool yarn (lamb’s wool, alpaca, cashmere or combinations of these are acceptable).
Only 100% soft wool yarn will be accepted, because our Armed Forces are not allowed to wear synthetic fibers outside the wire.
Wool is:
1. Inherently non-flammable, so it won’t melt against the skin in the event of an accident, and 2. It is a good insulator even when wet.
Colors: ONLY black, charcoal, brown, tan, or combinations of these colors."
IF you happen to have any wool yarn laying around that fits this criteria, I'd gladly give you a little something for it. OR if you knit or crochet and would like to make a scarf, helmet liner or neck cooler and want to share postage when sending them in, let me know and we'll try to get a larger box together. |

| | You know, I never thought about that. I suppose that would work. It doesn't say it wouldn't be accepted. |
